Horizons

Horizon boxes are shallow boxes and are actually three-dimensional. See Sculptural Paintings. Horizon paintings are on flat surfaces, without the raised rim and horizontal crossbar, but the images are basically the same: highly abstracted landscapes, dominated by horizontality, in which the chief components of foreground, middleground and background, near and far, earth and sky, are swapped and recombined to produce a synthetic landscape. Everyone likes a pretty sunset. So do I, but I'll give it to you upside down and backwards.
